Convention of Film Openings

Convention Of Films Openings
There are a few conventions that must be followed in some way or another by all films. To examine this I will use the thriller film:

The film opens with dramatic, sinister music, this goes together with the credits, giving it the aspect of being a horrific film, as this entrance is already creating a tense atmosphere.

To give it more effect the name of the film is presented twisted version of 'concordant form' with formal stripes that don't quite align, connoting the personality of a messed up maniac; edgy and slightly out of the norm.

The credits are shown in accordance with the music, and are being shown as if they were sliced, the movement of the lines in time with the sudden crescendo of the music. This is to create the effect of being a psycho with the temptation to create a massacre. The sudden movement of said lines represent the iconic stabbing motion and mood swings of a psycho preparing to attack.

Also there are, in some films the addition of key location or dates, to make it more chronological for the viewer. It makes is easier to follow the plot, as in this case it make it easier to see who it might be next.

When doing all of these key points the viewer is given the narrative; some vague background information, but they have to watch closely to obtain any details, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the film, so they'll be affected by events more strongly, whether it be part of the plot or setting OR production.
